Kochi, April 9 - The Malayalam film industry has found its newest box office sensation as Vaazha II: Biopic of a Billion Bros has stormed past the coveted 100 crore mark worldwide within just seven days of its release. The film's phenomenal performance has placed it among the all-time fastest-grossing hits in Mollywood.

Headlined by Hashir and others, Vaazha 2 witnessed an exceptional opening weekend, followed by excellent weekday collections. The film's relatable coming-of-age storyline has struck a chord with audiences across Kerala and overseas markets, especially in the Gulf region.

In 7 days so far, Vaazha has grossed approximately 55 crores at the Indian box office, including around 48.50 crores gross in Kerala state alone. The film's overseas performance is equally exceptional, with around 49 crore, and a major chunk of this has come from the Gulf, despite the region being at war.

Vaazha 2 Joins Elite Mollywood 100 Crore Grosser Club

With around 104 crores at the worldwide box office in 7 days, Vaazha 2 has become the 15th Malayalam film of all-time to enter the 100 crore club. Interestingly, in just a week, it has already earned 2x of its predecessor, which ended with around 38 crores at the worldwide box office.

Mohanlal's Pulimurugan was the first Mollywood film to hit the milestone of 100 crores gross globally. However, the real peak for Malayalam cinema came after the COVID-19 pandemic, especially after the 2018 Movie (2023), which was the third Mollywood 100 crore grosser.

Vaazha 2, with very little competition at the box office, is expected to be a dominant force in the coming days, particularly at the Kerala box office, where it is expected to enter the rare 100 crore club. If the momentum continues, which is expected, the film is heading towards 200+ crore worldwide, which will be an exceptional result.

What makes Vaazha 2 even more impressive is the speed at which the film achieved the 100 crore milestone. Crossing 100 crore in a week makes Vaazha 2 the third fastest Malayalam 100 crore grosser, behind Thudarum (6 days) and Empuraan (2 days). With the momentum still going strong, Vaazha 2 is expected to continue its impressive run in the coming days, potentially aiming for even bigger milestones at the global box office.
