Jayasurya's Aadu 3 Delivers Second Biggest Opening Weekend For A Malayalam Film

Kochi, March 23 - At the time when Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is ruling the nationwide box office, Malayalam cinema has quietly delivered another major success with the fantasy comedy Aadu 3. The film adds to the industry's impressive streak of consistent hits in recent years.

Headlined by Jayasurya, the third instalment of the popular franchise benefited from the makers' bold decision to stick to its original release date, despite the ongoing tensions in the Gulf region, traditionally the biggest overseas market for Malayalam films. The gamble paid off handsomely, as the film opened to strong box office numbers.

Aadu 3 recorded one of the biggest opening days ever for a Malayalam film, collecting nearly 18 crores worldwide. It then showed an excellent hold over the Eid holiday period, ultimately delivering the second-biggest opening weekend in Mollywood history with an impressive around 85 crores gross in its extended 4-day run.

Domestically, the film has earned approximately 31.25 crores, including over 27 crores from Kerala alone. Overseas, it has contributed an estimated 53 crores, with the Gulf region accounting for the majority of that total. Mohanlal's Empuraan remains the biggest opener in Malayalam cinema with a massive 174 crores worldwide gross during its 4-day opening weekend.
