Godzilla Minus Zero To Have A Worldwide Release In IMAX; Sets Up Clash With Namit Malhotra's Ramayana Part 1

Mumbai, April 16 - The much-anticipated sequel to the Oscar-winning Japanese film Godzilla Minus One has received a major update. Godzilla Minus Zero has now been confirmed for a worldwide IMAX release, giving fans around the globe the chance to witness the legendary monster on the biggest screens possible.

The announcement was revealed last month through comments from IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond, who confirmed that the upcoming Toho film will be screened globally in the premium format when it hits theatres later this year. The move signals a much wider theatrical rollout compared to the previous film, which became a phenomenon at the box office, and highlights the growing international demand for the franchise.

The announcement has sparked particular excitement among Indian fans, many of whom were disappointed when Godzilla Minus One did not receive a theatrical release in India despite its massive global acclaim. The film eventually became available to Indian audiences via streaming platforms after its theatrical run elsewhere.

Directed once again by Takashi Yamazaki, the film is scheduled to release in Japan on November 3, 2026, followed by North America on November 6, 2026, marking a rare near-simultaneous global rollout for a Japanese Godzilla movie. It will clash with the highly-awaited Indian epic, Ramayana: Part 1, which will also be released in IMAX.

With Godzilla Minus Zero now confirmed for a worldwide IMAX launch, the chances of a broader international distribution, including India, appear much stronger this time. The premium format is expected to enhance the scale and destruction of the iconic kaiju, delivering a far more immersive cinematic experience.
