Bollywood Buzz: Ranveer Singh's Pralay Shoot Begins In August 2026 As Vicky Kaushal Blocks 18 Months For Mahavatar
Mumbai, April 30 - Bollywood's upcoming slate continues to get bigger and more ambitious, with two major projects starring Ranveer Singh and Vicky Kaushal making headlines for their scale, timelines, genre diversity, and other reasons.
Pralay Begins In August 2026
After the historic success of Dhurandhar films, Ranveer Singh is set to headline the post-apocalyptic thriller Pralay, directed by Jai Mehta. Over the last few days, there have been rumours that Pralay has had a creative difference and might be pushed back indefinitely. But according to the latest report by Variety India, there is no truth in such rumours, and the project is on.
With a reported budget of three hundred crore rupees, Pralay is scheduled to go on floors by August this year. The production plans to merge physical sets with cutting-edge AI-driven visuals to create a dystopian atmosphere unlike anything seen in Indian cinema. South Indian actress Kalyani Priyadarshan has been finalised to make her Hindi film debut alongside Singh, marking a fresh pairing for this survival drama.
Vicky Kaushal Blocks 18 Months For Mahavatar
In a simultaneous move toward grand-scale storytelling, Vicky Kaushal has dedicated an eighteen-month window to the epic Mahavatar. Starting in June 2026, the actor will undergo a rigorous six-month preparation phase involving physical transformation and workshops to inhabit the role of the immortal sage-warrior Parashurama.
Once filming begins in January 2027, Kaushal intends to stay focused exclusively on this project until its completion in December. This level of commitment means he will not take on any other films during this period, ensuring total immersion in the character. This decision highlights a growing trend among top-tier actors to prioritise singular, high-impact performances over multiple concurrent shoots.
Vicky Kaushal is expected to wrap his work on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love and War just in time to begin his intense prep for Mahavatar. Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh has reportedly moved away from the Don franchise to explore new genres, leaving a vacancy in that iconic series. As these stars lock in their schedules, the industry is clearly pivoting toward long-term investments in world-building and myth-making that seek to captivate global audiences.
