O Romeo Box Office: Shahid Kapoor Delivers His Biggest Opening Post-Pandemic

Mumbai, February 14 - Shahid Kapoor's much-awaited romantic action drama O Romeo has taken a decent start at the domestic box office, scoring the actor's biggest opening in the post-pandemic era. Given the advance booking, the film opened on the predicted lines, with slight improvement.

Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, O Romeo minted approximately 8.25-8.50 crores net on its first day, which is bigger than Shahid Kapoor's every film released since the Covid pandemic. Romantic comedy Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya was earlier the biggest opener for the actor with 6.70 crores net, followed by Deva with 5.50 crores net in recent times.

The film had generated decent hype before the release date with a well-cut trailer and songs, but it couldn't keep the momentum leading up to the release. However, given the recent track record of the talent involved, the opening is fair.

The initial word of mouth looks mixed, but today being Valentine's Day, the film should see a normal than usual, Saturday jump in the collection. A decent hold on Sunday should help the film to post a fair opening weekend collection of nearly 30 crores net.
